Dana and Olin’s Garden Party - San Diego Botanic Garden Wedding

Dana and Olin share a laugh just prior to their wedding ceremony at the San Diego Botanic Garden.

The San Diego Botanic Garden was the perfect setting for Dana and Olin’s August 2, 2019 wedding celebration. I continue to enjoy this setting for weddings, as it’s a great spot for a secluded celebration, but still have a party where guests can dance well into the evening.

Dana and Olin kicked the night off by dancing to Tom Odell’s, “Grow Old With Me,” and later chose a join parents dance to Adele’s, “To Make You Feel My Love.”

The rest of the night was full of current hits and 90s jams. The dancefloor closed out with with the Kygo/Whitney Houston collab, “Higher Love.” This was such an anthem during the summer of 2019, so it was the perfect way to cap a 2019 summer wedding.

Ian and Betsy were married at the San Diego Botanic Garden on July 20, 2018

Weddings are generally the beginning of two lives together. But often times, it is more than just two; and it can be the beginning of a new family life together.

Such was the case with Ian and Betsy wedding day, July 20, 2018. There love for one another was equal to that of their own children. It was touching to see how much these two wove together their kids into various parts of the day. From the ceremony, to the grand entrance and all of the dancing, this day was not just for them, but for their amazing family.

Michelle and Cameron’s Destination Wedding at the San Diego Botanic Garden

Michelle and Cameron pose by a fountain after their wedding ceremony at the San Diego Botanic Garden.

Michelle and Cameron made their special day a destination wedding for them and many of their guests. And there’s not much of a better place in North County San Diego than the San Diego Botanic Garden.

There were some great musical highlights as well, which included a Polynesian dance (led by Michelle) and some interesting covers for their first dance and the father/daughter dance.

Michelle’s musician dad, and a total rocker, chose to dance with his daughter to Sweet Child ‘O Mine. This would have been epic with Gun ‘n’ Roses, but he found a sweet, acoustic, mellow version. A version I had never heard before.

And for their first dance, Michelle and Cameron chose the classic Elvis Presley tune, Can’t Help Falling In Love. However, it was a version performed by 21 Pilots.

Jaclyn and Dan's first dance during their wedding at the San Diego Botanic Garden.

Jaclyn and Dan are a couple from the Bay Area that made their way down to San Diego for an amazing wedding with friends and family. Their celebration took place at the San Diego Botanic Garden, a venue I had never worked at wedding at in my 14 years of DJing weddings in San Diego. That all changed the week of their wedding, as I ended up DJing two weddings at the venue in the same week!

This reception also provided an opportunity to mix together a custom first dance for Jaclyn and Dan. They loved the song XO, sung by both John Mayer and Beyonce and had a hard time choosing which version to dance to. So why not both?

I mixed a version that started with Mayer and then segued into the Queen Bey with a little backbeat. Fun times ... as was this whole wedding.
