Allison and Blake's vibrant wedding party walk up to Levyland Estates in Carlsbad, California.

Levyland Estates in Carlsbad is the location for an ultimate house party. And if you think you can't put together a full on dance party in a garage, well the, you just haven't been to a party at Levyland.

Blake and Allison were an amazing couple that I had the pleasure to meet and spin some tunes for. I played a mix of 70s, 80s, 90s and plenty of current hits.

Proven Inc. Free Frank Friday - Corporate Event DJ

Proven Inc. is a consulting and staffing firm based in San Diego. They are physically located inside a office building with other small and large businesses. On the final Friday of the month, they host a “Free Frank Friday” for their employees as well as anyone else in the building ... and who doesn't love a free lunch?

I provided live mixing of all genres, but mainly current Top 40. The event space was on Proven’s small outdoor patio, so the Bose L1 Compact speaker was perfect for the space. And since I only take up just enough space to accommodate myself and my four-foot table, I made sure I was not too intrusive to this low-key event.

DJ Justin Kanoya performs at Lululemon Fashion Valley to celebrate the Rock n' Roll San Diego 1/2 Marathon and Marathon Weekend.

The Suja Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego ½ Marathon and Marathon is the biggest running event in San Diego and takes place the first weekend in June every year. To celebrate the big weekend, the Lululemon store at Fashion Valley Mall invited me to spin some tunes for their customers.

It was a big weekend for me as well. I was a participant in the half marathon finishing with a time of one hour and 55 minutes with my November Project teammates (see the pictures in the slideshow below).

I always love playing music at retail stores, especially Lululemon. Their sales staff truly appreciates me when I am there and I can tell they are having as much fun with the music as their customers. It’s also great because the music I play is open format, so I play genres all across the board. After viewing my race photos, checkout the setlist below.

Megan and Trevor's Dance Party - Paradise Point Resort & Spa Wedding

It's the end of the night, but Megan and Trevor's life together is just beginning.

Megan and I met each other while we were both working ... she at Lululemon and me DJing at the store she works at. 

You really never know when your next business opportunity is. A few months before this wedding, I was DJing at Megan’s work, the Lululemon store in La Jolla, CA. When I was done with my set, she came up to me and mentioned an engagement party she and her fiance, Trevor, were throwing. The kicker … this little engagement party would be turning into a full on wedding before the night was over.

The timing could not have been more perfect as I just attended a party-turned-wedding the week before.

So it was settled, Megan booked me and I had a great time helping plan the surprise, at least from the DJ’s perspective.

The party, which took place at Paradise Point & Spa seemed pretty normal, with drinks, sushi and other food. Then a friend gathered everyone up and said a toast was about to occur, when in actuality it was their ceremony.

The evening progressed from there and it was time for a wedding dance party. Megan and Trevor started their lives together by creating a great surprise memory for their family and friends. She is a big fan of 80s, especially rock, so you’ll see that prevalent throughout the night.

Engagement party ... just kidding? This turned into a wedding before the night was over.

Brian and Todd’s Dance Party - Hotel Del Coronado Wedding

Brian and Todd took full advantage of a Southern California wedding setting by having their entire Coronado wedding on the beach at the Hotel del Coronado. The ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dancing all taking place on the famed white sands of Coronado Beach.
